Scope: State of Indiana, Private Work

Time Constraints: Your must have already served an Indiana Preliminary Notice to file this claim.  See Indiana Preliminary Notice, Private Work, for more information.

Send your Notice to Owner of Personal Liability within 90 days of your last performance, except for residential jobs, which is 60 days.  You must, however, file your actual lien within the time constraints for a lien.  See Indiana Bond or Lien Claim, Private Works, for more information.

Information Requirements: Program information.

Form Types: Notice of Intention to Hold a Lien, Exhibits A-D, if needed, and Recorders letter.

Procedures: File your copy of the Notice of Intention to Hold a Lien with the appropriate Indiana county recorders office.  Send copies of the attested forms by certified mail to the owner and general contractor (if known).  If you are not paid on the notice, immediately file your lien claim.
