Description: Preliminary Notice for Furnishing labor, Materials or Equipment.
Scope: District of Columbia, Private Work.
Time Constraints: None. This notice is not required by this state (See Important, below). Send any time after the start of furnishing labor, materials or equipment.
However, it should be noted that for private works suppliers of services or materials to a subcontractor may not have any lien rights in most cases. Liens are usually limited to those contracting with the general contractor or owner directly. A wise supplier would seek to bind the prime contractor or owner by contract, too.
